gingerose writes "The 1st Annual S.W.A.G. Event will take place at Mountain Harbor Resort from 9:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010. We will be meeting in the Convention Center just below the Lodge. There will be a special area set up for the younger cachers with toys, books, games, and movies to keep them warm and happy.
Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the coffee will be hot and waiting. There will also be hot chocolate for those that prefer it. Donuts will be on hand to hush the rumblings and carry you over to lunch.
You will have the morning to participate in the plethora of activities before enjoying a meal at 12:00 p.m. Pulled Pork Sandwich, Slaw, Beans, and Tea will be available for $7.00 per person if you wish to eat at the event. You are welcome to bring you own, dine at Mt. Harbor Lodge, or head on out for your meal, but we need a head count for those wishing a meal from the caterer. Please post if you plan on purchasing a meal and how many. At 1:00 p.m., we will be handing out prizes galore plus a few things more!
We realize that Arkansas weather is unpredictable - at best - so most of the events will be held inside the meeting area. This event is like the mailman; and will go on no matter the weather. Tentative plans are in the works for inside afternoon activities, if the weather does not cooperate with outdoor caching.
A few of the planned activities include:
Pocket caches We will also have several pocket caches floating around, so be sure to introduce yourself to everyone you meet. They just may be carrying a cache. This is a great way to meet your fellow cachers. As the girl scouts always said, "Make new friends, but keep the old..."
Camo contest Dress up a cache and win a prize. There will be three divisions so everyone wanting to participate can find the perfect niche for their cache. The choices are Evil, Fun and a special category for just the kids twelve and below. The entries for these contests will need to be turned in by 10 a.m. The top two vote earners in each division will be awarded prizes.
Kids cache This is a special cache for those younger cachers and has been placed for those 12 years of age and under. Adults may locate the cache, also, and log for that smilie. We will have that cache container loaded with treats for the kids. There is no need to exchange swag here. Kids, just take a gift from S.W.A.G and enjoy.
Geo-bingo Get your bingo card when you sign in and then enjoy the fun of meeting your fellow geocachers. Once your bingo form is completed bring it to the registration desk for an extra door prize ticket. We have all enjoyed this mixer before, and we expect this time to be no different.
Geo-clue This game may be new to you in geocaching form, but we are betting that you have played Clue before and have determined who did it, where it was done, and with what. We hope that each of you enjoy our version and get into the action with the temporary caches and solve “Who did it”? “How did they do it”? And, “what container did they use”? Those who choose to participate in Geo-Clue will receive the temporary cache coordinates for this game along with a clue score sheet. Become a geo-detective by putting together the clues to lead you to the bonus cache. Geo-detectives will receive mystery prize tickets upon turning in their completed clue sheet. FTF at the bonus cache gets a prize, but must return with the FTF Certificate.
Travel Bug and geocoins Since many of us enjoy Travel Bugs, there will be two tables set up for those who wish to bring their bugs and coins to trade or share. Make sure that you check out both areas. There may be a hitchhiker waiting for a ride to your “neck of the woods” or an interesting trackable for you to see.
S.W.A.G. Scavenger Hunt The scavenger hunt will be done as only geo-cachers could do it. This game will involve traveling to some caches in the area. Instructions will be provided on the S.W.A.G. Scavenger Hunt sheets. These sheets will become available after the 1:00 presentation. Winners in this will be awarded prizes at the Harbor Happening Nightime Adventure event.
Name that Cacher Cacher Identification, Little Known Facts About You Fellow Geocachers and Who’s Log Is This? – Can you answer these puzzling questions? Give it a try while a power point is playing throughout the morning. There aren't any prizes… just the fun of seeing if you are correct.
There is no cost to attend the event of course but prize donations are very welcomed. Please let us know, if you would like to donate a prize. Remember that no prize is too big or too small - and all are appreciated.
This caching event is quickly going to become one of the most attended in the state. So don't miss out on all the fun. Invited your friends, muggles, neighbors and even a few enemies to have a great time at Mountain Harbor with the S.W.A.G. gang.
Mt. Harbor resort has a variety of lodging options for just about every situation. In State: (870) 867-2191 Out of State: (800) 832-2276. If that is not what you are looking for then there are many other options in nearby Hot Springs."
